The Reverend Jacqulyn Brown Thorpe is adjunct Lecturer of Religious Education at Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C.  Her corollary appointment is at North Bethesda United Methodist Church as a Deacon in Full Connection.

Jacqui's scholarly interests include faith development and spiritual formation, church leadership and church Bible study. Jacqui's first book, published in 2001 by Abingdon Press was co-authored with Susan Willhauck, a friend and professor at Wesley Theological Seminary.  The book's title is The Web of Women's Leadership Recasting Congregational Ministry.  Her second book is God Delivers Me A Model from Strengthening The Black Church for the 21st Century. This book was published in January, 2008 also by Abingdon Press. Jacqulyn was the senior editor and supervised this writing project. Her other published writings include Bible study resources written for several denominations and essays published in The Journal of Religious Thought, a Howard University Press publication.

Jacqulyn has served on many United Methodist church boards and agencies as both a teacher and consultant in religious education in many arenas.  She enjoys spiritual crafting, cooking, playing the piano and thinking "out of the box." After serving as AAUW MD Past President. she is now on the state board of the American Association of University Women and currently is the Children's Issues Chair.

She is on the Advisory Board of the MD Women's Heritage Center which is scheduled to open in 2009.

Jacqui and husband, Marvin, are the parents of four adult children.  They reside in Bethesda, MD.
